IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the fourth week of the season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jackson Mayo, Fr., OF, South Florida
Mayo helped lead the Bulls to a 3-2 week by hitting .500 (9-18), with four runs scored, two home runs and four runs driven in. He had hits in all five games over the week. On Friday night in the first game of a series win over Bradley, the freshman outfielder went 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Connor Staine, R-So., UCF
Staine threw a complete-game 7-inning shutout against North Florida on Friday with seven strikeouts and no walks. After allowing two hits in the first inning, the redshirt sophomore retired the last 19 North Florida batters he faced.
HONOR ROLL
Garrett Saylor, Jr., P, East Carolina
Saylor made four appearances last week, going 1-0 with a save. He had nine innings of work, striking out 16 batters while allowing six hits and two runs. He had five strikeouts in three appearances, one against Virginia Tech on Tuesday and twice against Saint Mary’s over the weekend.
Logan Kohler, So., INF, Memphis
Kohler helped lead the Tigers to a sweep on the road at Samford by hitting .500 (6-12) with four runs, two doubles, a home run and four runs driven in.
Hunter Mink, R-So., P, South Florida
Mink did not allow a run in four innings over three appearances for the Bulls last week. He struck out nine batters and picked up a win and two saves.
Jace Kaminska, So., P, Wichita State
Kaminska pitched seven innings with two hits and one run allowed in a win over South Dakota State. The sophomore struck out eight Jackrabbits.
Andrew Stewart, Jr., INF, Wichita State
Stewart hit .533 (8-15) with five runs scored, a home run and five driven in as the Shockers went 3-1 last week.
