DALLAS, Texas -- SMU advanced to the second round of the NIT with a 68-58 win over Nicholls Wednesday night, March 16, at Moody Coliseum. 

With the win, SMU will face Washington State on Sunday, March 20 at 3 p.m. Eastern in Dallas. The Cougars defeated Santa Clara, 63-50, in the first round.

Michael and Marcus Weathers both led the Mustangs (24-8) with double-doubles. Michael Weathers had 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Marcus Weathers recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Mustangs held a big advantage in rebounding, 49-35, and had 18 free throws to Nicholls' three.

Devante Carter led Nicholls with 20 points off the bench.
