Houston's Arnold, Cincinnati's Keathley Earn Weekly Baseball Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the fifth week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zach Arnold, R-So., INF, Houston
Arnold aided the Cougars to a 3-1 week by hitting .556 (10-for-18) with six runs scored, three doubles and three RBI. The redshirt sophomore scored at least a run and recorded at least two hits in each of Houston’s four games, including a win at Texas A&M and a series win against Columbia.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Beau Keathley, Sr., Cincinnati
Keathley threw six innings of 3-hit ball in a 12-1 win on Saturday, March 19 against Saint Joseph’s. The senior gave up zero earned runs (one unearned), no walks and struck out 12 batters.
 
HONOR ROLL
Gephry Pena, R-Jr., OF, UCF
Pena hit .444 (8-for-18) with three runs scored, a double, four runs driven in and was 7-for-7 in stolen bases as the Knights went 2-2 last week.
 
Ben Sears, Jr., P, Houston
Sears made two appearances last week for the Cougars, earned a win and a save. He did not allow a run in 5.1 innings, giving up one hit, no walks and recorded three strikeouts.
 
Jacob Compton, So., 1B/OF, Memphis
Compton hit three home runs and drove in nine runs as the Tigers went 3-1 last week. The sophomore hit .353 (6-for-17) and five of his six hits with extra-base hits (three home runs, two doubles).
 
Matt Ruiz, So., INF, South Florida
Ruiz hit .462 (6-for-13) with five runs scored, two doubles and four runs batted in as the Bulls went 3-1.
 
Brock Rodden, So., INF, Wichita State
Rodden led The American in hitting last week, going 7-for-12 (.583) with five runs, a double, two home runs and six runs driven in.
