UCF, Cincinnati And Houston Athletes Secure First Outdoor Track And Field Weekly Awards Of The Season

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track and field honors, for the competition week ending Sunday, March 20.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Chris Borzor * So. * Cincinnati
Borzor opened the outdoor season with a 100-meter dash victory representing Cincinnati at the Houston Spring Break Invitational on March 17. Borzor posted a time of 10.33 in section 3 on the way to the event win. Borzor’s time was the fastest in the conference and ranked 15th nationally as of March 22.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Antonio Ruiz * Sr. * Houston
Ruiz turned in a strong showing in his season debut in the pole vault for Houston at the Houston Spring Break Invitational on March 17. Ruiz was the runner-up with a clearance of 5.21m (17-1.0) to pace the conference and rank fifth in the NCAA as of March 22.
 
Women’s Track Athletes of the Week
Ciara Holback * Sr. * UCF
Holback turned in a runner-up showing in the 200-meter dash to kick off the spring at the UCF Black and Gold Invite on March 18. Holback crossed the finish line in 23.57 to log the top time in The American and 14th-fastest nationally as of March 22.
 
Naomi Taylor * Grad * Houston
Taylor opened the outdoor slate in a familiar position, first place, in the 100-meter hurdles during the Houston Spring Break Invitational on March 17. Taylor turned in a winning time of 13.41 to rank first in the conference and 14th in the NCAA as of March 22.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Priscilla Adejokun * Grad * Houston
Adejokun carried over strong momentum from the indoor season into the hammer throw at the Houston Spring Break Invitational on March 17. Adejokun covered 64.41m (211-4.0) on the fourth attempt of six to claim the win with the best mark in the conference and eighth-best throw thus far nationally as of March 22.
