CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati got contributions from every part of its lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Bearcats put up nine runs and take down the Houston Cougars, 9-6, Sunday at UC Baseball Stadium. The win clinched the series victory for the Bearcats.

Graduate pitcher Tristan Weaver (3-3) got the win out of the bullpen for Cincinnati (13-17, 3-3). The southpaw went two innings, giving up one run, allowing one walk and striking out two. Graduate pitcher Ryan Steckline also pitched well, going two shutout innings while allowing one hit, walking one and striking out three.

Redshirt junior outfielder Paul Komistek led the Bearcats in hits, going 3-for-5 in the ballgame with an RBI. Redshirt junior outfielder Griffin Merritt had a nice day at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Redshirt sophomore catcher Joe Powell chipped in once again, going 1-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

The Bearcats were trailing 3-0 in the first inning when Powell came across to score the lone run of the inning for Cincinnati and get it on the board.

The Bearcats kept the deficit at 3-1 before taking the lead in the second. Cincinnati scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-RBI double from Powell, which brought the score to 4-3 in favor of the Bearcats.

Cincinnati's lead had disappeared by the time the fourth inning arrived and turned into a 6-4 Houston advantage, when the Bearcats re-gained control at 7-6 thanks to a couple errors by the Cougars and an RBI single from sophomore outfielder Cole Harting.

Wichita State 5, East Carolina 0 - Box Score
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Cameron Bye fired eight shutout innings with a career high-tying eight strikeouts, and Wichita State salvaged the series finale with a 5-0 win over East Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

Bye (3-0) continued his remarkable start to the 2022 season, lowering his season ERA to 0.24 (1 ER over 37.0 innings). He held the Pirates to just three hits on the afternoon, and has now allowed just two extra-base hits the entire season while holding opponents to a .122 average.

Chuck Ingram provided all the offense the Shockers would need in the top of the third, slamming a two-run homer to left after Andrew Stewart coaxed a two-out walk, giving Wichita State (13-18) a 2-0 lead. It was Ingram's ninth home run of the season, and extended his career-best hitting streak to nine games.

The Shockers added on against the East Carolina bullpen in the sixth. After Stewart singled and Xavier Casserilla earned a two-out walk, a wild pitch moved them to second and third. Sawyre Thornhill then bounced a 2-2 pitch back through the middle for a two-run single, doubling the lead to 4-0.

UCF 15, Memphis 6 - Box Score
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – UCF Baseball (20-12, 5-1) pumped out a season high 19 hits and scored 10 runs in the first inning to defeat Memphis (13-15, 1-5), 15-6 and clinch the series. Zack Hunsicker picked up his second win in relief this season, improving to 2-0 with 2.1 innings of no-hit baseball.

UCF jumped out to a commanding lead in the first inning, as Lex Boedicker began to hit parade with a single to right to score Gephry Pena. Ben McCabe later doubled down the line in left to score Alex Freeland, before the fireworks began in Memphis.

Andrew Sundean hit a three-run home run to left field, but the Tigers checked the bat for illegal use of pine tar. Head coach Greg Lovelady and Memphis starting pitcher were both ejected. The umpires would hold a conference and reverse the call, pushing the score to 5-0. Ryan Taylor immediately followed up the three-run bomb, with a solo shot of his own. Alex Freeland drove in two of his four runs in the first on a doubled to left center.

Noah Orlando doubled to left center to score Freeland and Boedicker singled up the middle to score Orlando and give the Knights a 10-0 lead. Memphis would score two in the second and four in the third to cut the lead to 10-6, before UCF erupted late in the game.

South Florida 13, Tulane 8 - Box Score
NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of South Florida Bulls (19-13, 1-5 American) snapped their losing skid with a 13-8 victory in the finale of a three-game weekend series at Tulane University (22-10-1, 5-1). The Bulls' victory also halted a six-game winning streak by the Green Wave.

Tied at 1-1 after two innings, South Florida broke the deadlock with four runs in the fourth, added three more in the fifth, and answered a furious Tulane rally in the sixth with three more in the seventh.

Nick Gonzalez put the Bulls in front with an RBI-single in the fourth to score Joaquin Monque who doubled to lead off the inning. Carmine Lane followed with a three-run home run to give USF a 5-1 lead.

Monque homered in the fifth and Matt Ruiz recorded a bases-loaded walk later in the inning to stretch the Bulls' advantage to 8-1.

The Green Wave exploded to six runs in the bottom of the sixth to suddenly make it an 8-7 ballgame, but the Bulls responded with a three spot in the top of the seventh with some small ball.

Drew Brutcher and Ruiz tallied back-to-back two out walks and Jackson Mayo added the first insurance run with an infield single. Roberto Peña reached safely next, and chased home another run, on a dropped-third strike. Daniel Cantu capped the seventh frame with another infield single as he hustled down the line and slid in safely headfirst at first base.

Mayo provided the exclamation point for the offense on Sunday after the Bulls were shutout on Saturday with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth.
