IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, April 10.
Player of the Week
Bethany Busch * Sr. * OF * Houston
Busch was a key offensive cog for Houston in a three-game series sweep at East Carolina, returning from injury to start at designated player against the Pirates. Busch batted .385 with two game-winning home runs, seven RBI, a 1.125 slugging percentage and three runs scored for the Cougars. Busch turned in a 2-for-4 day in game two against ECU on April 9, blasting a three-run home run with one out in the top of the fifth inning and drove in a career-high four total runs in a 6-3 comeback victory. Busch added a three-run shot in the series finale on April 10 in the top of the first frame to break open a five-run Cougar inning and 8-0 win in six innings.
Pitcher of the Week
Kenna Wilkey * Sr. * RHP * Houston
Wilkey fashioned a 2-0 record, 0.00 ERA and .174 batting average against during the Houston sweep at East Carolina. Wilkey yielded just two walks and struck out 16 Pirates over 13 innings pitched. Wilkey opened the series with a three-hit shutout that included one walk and seven strikeouts in a 5-0 Houston win on April 8. Wilkey was equally impressive in the series finale, allowing five hits over six innings and punching out nine ECU batters in an 8-0 run-rule triumph.

Batted .417 with three doubles, a home run and seven RBI in a 5-0 week for UCF; logged a 2-for-4 day with a home run and three RBI against No. 5 Virginia Tech (April 4)

Posted a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA and a .167 batting average against in two appearances (one start) for 5-0 UCF; spun six shutout innings of relief with four strikeouts to get the win against No. 5 Virginia Tech (April 4) and allowed two hits over six innings of a game two shutout of Memphis (April 9)
Georgina Corrick * Sr. * RHP * South Florida
Went 1-1 with a save and 1.40 ERA in three appearances (two starts) for South Florida in a series win against Wichita State; allowed four hits and one earned run with 14 strikeouts in a game one win against the Shockers (April 8) and pitched a perfect seventh inning with two strikeouts to earn the save in game two (April 9)
Jordyn Kadlub * R-So. * UTL * South Florida
Led South Florida with a .429 batting average in a series victory against defending conference champion Wichita State; reached base in all three plate appearances and added a home run, stolen base, two RBI and two runs in a game one win over the Shockers (April 8)
Alison Cooper * Fr. * LHP * Wichita State
Tossed a complete game four-hitter for Wichita State to claim the series finale at South Florida (April 10); surrendered one run and struck out two batters in the win against the Bulls
