IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the eighth week of the season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Freeland, So., INF, UCF
Freeland hit .429 (6-14) in a series win at Memphis this past weekend with six runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and a league-leading 10 runs driven in. In Saturday’s win, the sophomore went 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Cameron Bye, So., Wichita State
Bye pitched eight scoreless innings with eight strikeouts and only three hits and three walks in a 5-0 win at East Carolina on Sunday, April 11. It lowered his ERA to 0.24 on the season, second-best in the nation.
HONOR ROLL
Cole Harting, So., OF, Cincinnati
Harting helped lead the Bearcats to a series win over Houston by hitting .385 (5-13) with six runs scored, one double, one home run and seven RBI.
Ryder Giles, Jr., P, East Carolina
Giles allowed one run on three hits with no walks and eight strikeouts in seven innings, earning the win on Friday night against Wichita State.
Jacob Jenkins-Cowart, Fr., 1B/OF, East Carolina
Jenkins-Cowart hit .429 (6-14) with four runs, a double, a triple, two home runs and eight runs driven in as the Pirates earned a series win over the Shockers.
Dylan Carmouche, So., P, Tulane
Carmouche did not allow a run and struck out seven batters in a 6-0 win over South Florida on Saturday.
Jackson Linn, Fr., OF, Tulane
Linn aided the Green Wave to a series win over South Florida by hitting .412 (7-17), scoring seven runs and driving in five runs.
