Cincinnati, Temple, Florida Players Take Weekly Women's Lacrosse Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending April 17.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Grace Wehland • Jr. • Cincinnati • Bel Air, Md.

Wehland scored five goals on five shots to lead Cincinnati to a 17-11 win at Old Dominion. She scored two goals as part of a 7-0 run that helped the Bearcats turn a one-goal deficit into a 14-8 lead that effectively put the game away. Wehland has 18 goals and six assists this season and has scored on 51.4% of her shots. 
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Quinn Nicolai • Gr. • Temple • Moorestown, N.J.

Nicolai had a game-high six points, with five goals and an assist, to keep Temple atop the American Athletic Conference standings with a 15-10 win at East Carolina. She scored the Owls’ first two goals to end East Carolina’s 6-0 run to start the game, while she added the first three goals of the second half to bring Temple even at 8-8. Nicolai leads the Owls and is fifth in The American with 43 goals in 2022.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sarah Reznick • G • So. • Florida • Long Beach, N.Y.

Reznick made 13 saves and allowed only five goals in 52:18 to lead No. 10 Florida to a 16-8 win at Vanderbilt, keeping the Gators atop the American Athletic Conference standings. Reznick limited the Commodores to only one goal in the second and third quarters, allowing Florida to turn an early 3-1 deficit into a 13-4 lead after 45 minutes. Reznick finished the game as the American Athletic Conference leader in both save percentage (.469) and goals-against average (9.84).
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Emma LoPinto • A • Fr. • Florida • Manhasset, N.Y.

LoPinto earns American Freshman of the Week honors for the seventh consecutive week and the eighth time overall after she scored a career-high seven goals in the Gators’ 16-8 win at Vanderbilt. The seven goals match the most by an American Athletic Conference player in a game this season and increased LoPinto’s season total to 44 goals, good for fourth in the conference.

Lauren Carey • D • So. • Old Dominion • Chester Springs, Pa.
Had seven caused turnovers – the most by an American Athletic Conference player in a game this season – to go with two ground balls and a draw control in a 17-11 loss to Cincinnati.
 
Mackenzie Roth • A • Jr. • Temple • Schnecksville, Pa.
Had two goals, three assists, two ground balls and a caused turnover in a 15-10 win at East Carolina.
