IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Saturday, April 16.
Player of the Week
Lauren Lucas * So. * OF * Wichita State
Lucas enjoyed a strong week for Wichita State in a three-game sweep at Houston, batting .583 with three doubles, a home run, four RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored for the weekend. Lucas also added multi-hit outings in all three starts and slugged 1.083 for the week. Lucas went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a steal and a run in game one on April 14, 3-for-4 with a run batted in during the second game on April 15 and closed the series with two hits, including a solo home run, on April 16.
Pitcher of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Sr. * RHP * South Florida
Corrick nearly threw a perfect game during South Florida’s 4-0 nonconference win at Jacksonville on April 13, reaching the bottom of the seventh inning without allowing a base runner. Corrick scattered two hits and hit a batter but escaped a bases-loaded jam in the final frame to preserve the complete game shutout. She did not walk a batter and struck out 12 Jacksonville hitters on 91 pitches in the victory.

Went 2-0 with an 0.54 ERA in a pair of starts during a UCF sweep of East Carolina; tossed a one-hit shutout with two walks and four strikeouts for the Knights in game one (April 14)
Justene Molina * Sr. * IF * UCF
Batted .571 for UCF in its three-game sweep of East Carolina; went 2-for-3 with an RBI during the game two win (April 15)
Britaney Shaw * Jr. * IF * Houston
Hit .429 and reached base at a .500 clip during Houston’s series against Wichita State; batted 2-for-3 with an RBI in the series finale (April 16)
Gracie Morton * Sr. * OF * Memphis
Recorded a .600 average with a double and a run scored for Memphis in a series against Tulsa; went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored in game one of a doubleheader (April 15)
Alexis Johns * Jr. * OF * South Florida
Batted .750 with three stolen bases, two RBI and three runs scored in a midweek sweep for South Florida; hit two doubles, stole two bases, drove in two runs and scored twice in a win against Florida A&M (April 13)
Kylie Norwood * Sr. * IF * Tulsa
Logged a .444 batting average with two home runs and six RBI for Tulsa in a series win against Memphis; registered three RBI in game one (April 14) and game two (April 15)
