UCF's Brooks, East Carolina's Spivey Earn Weekly Baseball Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the 10th week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Michael Brooks, R-Fr., 3B, UCF
Brooks helped propel the Knights into a tie for first place in The American’s standings with a sweep at Wichita State by hitting .556 with five runs, one triple, two home runs and six runs driven in. The redshirt freshman had a .714 on-base percentage for the week.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Carter Spivey, Jr., East Carolina
Spivey made two relief appearances in a pair of Pirate wins last week, pitching 9.2 innings with three hits, no earned runs, one walk and eight strikeouts. He earned the save against UNCW by throwing the last 2.1 innings and had an extended stint out of the bullpen with 7.1 innings in a win Saturday at Tulane.
 
HONOR ROLL
Nathan Medrano, Jr., P, Houston
Medrano made two appearances for the Cougars, not allowing an earned run in 8.2 winnings with three strikeouts and only four hits allowed.
 
Anthony Tulimero, R-So., C, Houston
Tulimero hit .385 (5-13) with five runs, one double, one home run and five runs driven in as the Cougars won a 3-game series with Memphis. The redshirt sophomore had the walk-off home run in Saturday’s win.
 
Blake Daniels, Gr., INF/OF, Memphis
Daniels hit .529 (9-17) with four runs scored, three doubles and seven runs driven in as the Tigers went 3-2 last week.
 
Sonny Rao, Fr., 1B, South Florida
Rao helped lead the Bulls to a series win at Cincinnati by hitting .421 (8-19) with four runs scored, two doubles and five runs driven in.
 
Jackson Linn, Fr., OF, Tulane
Linn aided the Green Wave to a series win against East Carolina and into a tie for first place in The American’s standings with two home runs, five runs driven in, five runs scored and a .400 batting average (6-15).
