Houston's Arnold, UCF's Vespi Earn Baseball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the 11th week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zach Arnold, R-So., INF, Houston
Arnold helped propel the Cougars to a sweep at South Florida by hitting .474 (9-19) with five runs scored, one double, three home runs and seven runs driven in. The redshirt sophomore recorded multi-hit games in each of the three conference contests over the weekend.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Ben Vespi, So., UCF
Vespi turned in a quality start on Friday night against Tulane, earning the win after throwing 7.0 innings with only one run, two hits and two walks allowed while striking out seven batters.
 
HONOR ROLL
Gephry Pena, R-Jr., OF, UCF
Pena hit .308 (4-13) with three runs scored, two home runs and four RBI as the Knights earned a series win over Tulane.
 
Bryson Worrell, Sr., OF, East Carolina
Worrell helped lead the Pirates to the top of The American’s standings and a sweep over Cincinnati by hitting .500 (7-14) with five runs scored, one double, two home runs and four RBI over the week.
 
Nathan Medrano, Jr., P, Houston
Medrano earned the win in Sunday’s win over South Florida by tossing 6.0 innings with two runs given up while striking out four Bulls.
 
Ben Brooks, Sr., INF, Memphis
Brooks hit .389 (7-18) with five runs scored and six RBI last week, but the highlight was hitting for the cycle in Sunday’s game against Wichita State.
 
Brock Rodden, So., INF, Wichita State
Rodden hit .500 (9-18) with six runs scored, two home runs and five runs driven in as the Shockers earned a series victory at Memphis.
