Wichita State’s Barnard, South Florida’s Corrick Shine With Week 12 Softball Awards

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, May 1.
 
Player of the Week
Addison Barnard * So. * OF * Wichita State
Barnard repeated as conference player of the week with another dynamic weekend for Wichita State in a conference sweep at East Carolina. Barnard batted .600 with four home runs, eight RBI, a 2.000 slugging percentage and six runs scored over three starts in Greenville. Barnard erupted in a run-rule victory in game one on April 29, going 4-for-4 with three homers, a double, seven RBI and four runs in a five-inning win. Barnard added a double and scored a run to help the Shockers complete a comeback in game two on April 30. Barnard capped the weekend with a solo home run to help defeat ECU in game three on May 1.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Sr. * RHP * South Florida
Corrick tossed just the fourth perfect game in conference history, and her second this season alone, to lead South Florida to a crucial home conference sweep against Houston. Corrick was 3-0 with a spotless 0.00 ERA in 21 innings pitched against the Cougars, walking just two batters to go along with 26 strikeouts and a 0.90 batting average against. Corrick struck out 11 batters to finish the game one perfect game on April 30 following a postponement due to rain the night before, then threw a two-hit shutout with two walks and 11 punchouts later in the day in game two. Corrick finished off Houston with a four-hit shutout, no walks and four strikeouts in her final career home start on May 1.

Posted a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA and nine strikeouts in two starts for No. 21/20 UCF against Tulsa; tossed a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts in game one (April 29) and went the first 4.2 innings with two walks and four strikeouts in a combined no-hitter with Kama Woodall in the series finale (May 1)
 
Megan Pierro * Jr. * IF * South Florida
Hit .429 with two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored for South Florida in a league sweep against Houston; drove in two runs for the Bulls during a 4-0 game one win (April 29-30)
 
Alison Cooper * Fr. * LHP * Wichita State
Went seven innings and allowed one run on six hits for Wichita State in the series finale against East Carolina (May 1); walked one and struck out seven batters to earn the complete game victory.
