Athletes From UCF, Houston And South Florida Recognized In Week Seven Outdoor Track And Field Awards

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track and field honors, for the competition week ending Sunday, May 1.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Quivell Jordan * Grad * Houston
Jordan continued a great season for Houston in the 400-meter hurdles with a stellar showing at the Penn Relays on April 28. Jordan posted a time of 49.63 to take first place by over a full second at the elite collegiate showcase. Jordan was the conference leader in the event and ranked eighth nationally in the 400 hurdles as of May 3.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Romaine Beckford * Jr. * South Florida
Beckford captured the gold medal in the men’s high jump for South Florida while competing at the Penn Relays on April 28. Beckford cleared 2.23m (7-3.75) to post the top mark in The American and rank fourth in the NCAA in the high jump as of May 3.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Rayniah Jones * So. * UCF
Jones rose to the top of the conference list in the women’s 100-meter hurdles for UCF while in action at the North Florida Collegiate Invitational on April 29. Jones was the top collegiate finisher in the finals heat with a time of 12.79. Jones ranked first in The American and eighth nationally in the 100 hurdles as of May 3.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Adrienne Adams * So. * UCF
Adams claimed a runner-up finish in a competitive discus finals flight for UCF at the North Florida Collegiate Invitational on April 29. Adams registered a second attempt that covered 53.53m (175-7.0) to lock up the top collegiate mark in the event. Adams ranked second in The American and 41st in the NCAA as of May 3.
