IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winner of the league’s Boat of the Week honor covering the eighth week of the season.

Down at the Longhorn Invite, the Mustangs finished second in 6:29.672, behind only No. 1 Texas (6:21.431), but ahead of No. 10 Ohio State (6:30.891), No. 14 Virginia (6:34.750) and UCLA.

In other action at the Lornhorn Invite, SMU’s Varsity 8 (6:22.441) finished behind Texas (6:10.269) and Ohio State (6:22.353), but defeated Virginia (6:28.918) and UCLA (6:32.196), while the Varsity 4 took down UCLA.
 
Tulsa claimed the Lawless Cup and earned four first-place finishes over Creighton on April 30. The Varsity 8 earned a 15-second win, 7:31.45-7:47.32, while also picking up wins in the Second Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8 and Varsity 4.
 
At the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., Temple’s Varsity 8 qualified for the Grand Final for the first time in program history. The Owls finished sixth in 7:11.037 after finished second in their heat in 6:37.119.
 
Up at the Iowa Invite, UCF’s Varsity 8 finished second in 6:50.02 behind USC (6:45.0), but ahead of Iowa (6:56.13). In their second race, the Knights’ V8 was second in 6:56.31 behind Oregon State (6:43.90), but ahead of Iowa (7:01.67).
 
Sacramento State won three medals at the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships at Lake Natoma. The Varsity 8 won gold in 6:41.45, finished ahead of San Diego (6:43.38) and UC San Diego (6:50.54). It was the first WIRA gold for the Hornets’ top boat since 2010.
