East Carolina's Mayhue, Houston's Hernandez Earn Baseball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the 12th week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Hernandez, Sr., 1B, Houston
Hernandez helped lead the Cougars to a series win over Wichita State by hitting .467 (7-15) for the week with five runs scored, two doubles, two home runs and six runs driven in. He recorded a hit, scored a run and drove in a run in every game last week.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
C.J. Mayhue, R-So., East Carolina
Mayhue turned in one of the best pitching performances in the country this season after throwing nine innings of no-hit ball against Memphis on Friday night. The redshirt sophomore faced one batter over the minimum through nine innings, only walked one batter and struck out nine Tigers. The Pirates would go on to win the game in 13 innings.
 
HONOR ROLL
Cole Harting, So., OF, Cincinnati
Harting hit .429 (6-14) with three runs scored, a home run and three RBI as the Bearcats earned a series victory at Tulane.
 
Ben Newton, Sr., C, East Carolina
Newton aided the Pirates to a sweep at Memphis by hitting .500 (6-12) with two runs scored and four runs driven in.
 
Landon Gartman, Fr., P, Memphis
Gartman matched Mayhue pitch-for-pitch Friday night, not allowing a hit in eight innings, while only allowing four walks and striking out 10 Pirates.
 
Jarrett Eaton, R-Jr., OF, South Florida
Eaton hit .313 (5-16) while recording two runs, two doubles, one triple and four runs driven in as the Bulls earned a series win over in-state rival UCF. He drove in the winning run in Sunday’s rubber match.
 
Brock Rodden, So., INF, Wichita State
Rodden continued his hot hitting, going 7-for-15 (.429) with five runs scored, two doubles, three home runs and seven RBI in four games last week.
