South Florida’s Epperson, Corrick Sweep Season’s Final Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball honors, for the week ending Sunday, May 8.
 
Player of the Week
Madison Epperson * Sr. * IF * South Florida
Epperson was on fire at the plate for South Florida during the final series of the season for the Bulls at Memphis, batting .625 with a home run and four RBI during the series sweep of the Tigers. Epperson added seven putouts in the field at first base over the weekend. Epperson went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, home run and four RBI in South Florida’s 13-1 victory in five innings to open the series on May 6. Epperson chipped in a base hit in both game two on May 7 and game three on May 8 for the Bulls.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Georgina Corrick * Sr. * RHP * South Florida
Corrick punctuated her final regular season series at South Florida with a perfect 3-0 mark at Memphis, posting a 0.41 ERA, two walks and 37 strikeouts in just 17.0 innings pitched in the three-game set. The Tigers combined to bat just .136 against Corrick over the three games. Corrick spun a four-hitter that included all 15 outs by way of strikeout to win game one on May 6. Corrick allowed two hits and one unearned run with one walk and 12 strikeouts in a 9-1 win in five innings in game two on May 7. Corrick finished the sweep with a two-hit shutout, walking one while striking out 10, in a 3-0 victory on May 8.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Ashleigh Griffin * Fr. * C/DP * UCF
Hit .333 with a team-high four RBI during UCF’s series win at Wichita State to clinch the 2022 American regular-season championship; went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI in the final game of the series against the Shockers (May 8)
 
Kama Woodall * R-Sr. * RHP * UCF
Posted a 1-1 record and helped lead UCF to wins in the final two games of the series at Wichita State to capture the American Softball Championship’s top seed; threw eight innings of five-hit softball, allowing one run while striking out eight batters to win in game two (May 7) and surrendered one run on three hits over two innings of relief in the clinching game three (May 8)
 
Hannah Todd * Grad * RHP * Houston
Went 1-0 with a 1.45 ERA in two appearances (one start) for Houston in a midweek sweep of Texas A&M; tossed eight innings and scattered five hits against the Aggies to pick up the victory in game two (May 4)
 
Sydney McKinney * Jr. * IF * Wichita State
Batted .600 with two RBI and three runs scored and added four infield assists for Wichita State in a dynamic series with UCF; ripped two hits and scored one run in each of the three games against the Knights (May 6-8)
