UCF, Cincinnati, SMU Earn First Weekly Honors of 2022 Season

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards for the first week of the 2022 season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Courtney Sebazco, Gr., M, SMU
Sebazco scored the game-winning goal from outside the box in a 2-1 win over Rice on Thursday, August 18 and provided an assist on the Mustangs’ goal in a 1-1 draw at No. 11 Tennessee.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Barron, Sr., D, Cincinnati
Barron anchored the Bearcat defense that posted two clean sheets, including a win over Northern Kentucky and a scoreless draw against Michigan State. Barron and Cincinnati defense only allowed two shots on goal combined, both coming against the Spartans.
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Caroline DeLisle, R-Sr., GK, UCF
DeLisle recorded four saves in a 3-0 shutout win over Florida and then went on the road and made six saves in a 1-1 draw at LSU, including a diving save to preserve the tie in the final minutes.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Peyton Annen, D, SMU
Annen scored the opening goal in a 1-1 draw at No. 11 Tennessee for the Mustangs.
 
HONOR ROLL
Maria Bulis, Fr., D, South Florida
Bulis played the entire second half at center back and scored off of a corner kick in her collegiate debut against FGCU on Sunday, August 21.
 
Sydney Martinez, Sr., GK, South Florida
Martinez recorded five saves for the Bulls in their season-opening win over FGCU.
 
Rosalia Muino Gonzalez, Jr., M, South Florida
Muino Gonzalez scored the game-winning goal from outside the boxin a 3-1 win over FGCU.
 
Samantha Estrada, R-Sr., GK, SMU
Estrada recorded 13 saves combined in two matches, including four in a win over Rice and nine in a draw at No. 11 Tennessee.
 
Madison Tokachik, Jr., F, Tulsa
Tokachik scored a brace in Tulsa’s 3-0 win over Mid-America Christian on Thursday and had eight shots on goal combined in two matches against the Evangels and Kansas City.
