CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team defeated Murray State 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Gettler Stadium. With the win, the Bearcats improve to 2-0-2 (0-0-0 American).

After a few strong scoring chances from the first touch, Brandi Thomsen collected the ball deep in the final third and played it to an oncoming Ashley Barron, who finished it off with a strike for her first goal of the season in the 12th minute. The assist is the second this season for Thomsen, who has tallied four points through the first four matches. The Bearcats dominated possession for much of the first half, holding the Racers without a shot at the break.

Cincinnati continued to push the tempo offensively out of the half as Maddie Swingle quickly found Ellie Flower, who beat a defender and fired a shot that found the lower right of the frame for her first collegiate goal after only 21 seconds of action. The goal at the 45:21 mark is the fastest goal out of a half recorded under head coach Neil Stafford. The assist was also a collegiate first for Swingle.

Anna Rexford recorded her 100th career save off a free kick attempt in the 48th minute. Rexford added three saves this afternoon to give her nine to only one goal allowed through the first four matches. The one goal allowed in the first four contests is the lowest under Stafford.

No. 23 UCF 3, FGCU 1 - Box Score
ORLANDO – The UCF women's soccer team came from behind with a 3-1 win over FGCU on Sunday at the UCF Soccer Complex.

The Knights seemingly began the match from behind, following an FGCU goal from Louise Lillback, assisted by Libby Helverson, in the second minute.

Following the early Eagles goal, the Knights put sustained pressure on FGCU's backline, and that pressure was rewarded in the 20th minute. Darya Rajaee played a gorgeous overhead pass to Kristen Scott, who then spun her defender and put the ball past the keeper, leveling the game at one.

Just over 10 minutes into the second half, Rajaee found Ellie Moreno outside the box, she then played a perfect through ball into Mallory Olsson who took it first time and slotted the ball into the near post. Seconds following Olsson's go-ahead goal, a lightning delay sent both teams back to the locker room with the Knights up 2-1 in the 58th minute.

As the match resumed following the hour delay, Scott found the back for the second time in the 61st minute. After a Knights throw-in, Kelis Barton found Scott running across the box, who took it with her left foot, beating the keeper once again.

Houston 2, Sam Houston 1 - Box Score
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Seniors Madison Dichiara and Janna Singleton led the way for the University of Houston Soccer program which used a 2-1 victory to notch the first win of the Jaime Frias era Sunday afternoon against Sam Houston at Pritchett Field.

The Cougars (1-1-1) outshot the Bearkats (0-3) 14-9 for the afternoon, including a 9-6 advantage on net. Houston looked to get on the board early in third minute when midfielder Samantha Wiehe's shot attempt was saved by Sam Houston's goalkeeper Tatum Krueger.

Following a free kick for the Cougars, senior midfielder Dichiara found the back of the net off a header, assisted by midfielder Caitlyn Matthews in the 41st minute to give Houston a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the start of the second half, senior forward Singleton scored her second goal as a Cougar in the 46th minute following on Matthews' second assist of the afternoon.

East Carolina 3, Old Dominion 0 - Box Score
GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina soccer team wrapped up a stretch of four consecutive games against 2021 NCAA Tournament team with a 3-0 rout of the Old Dominion Monarchs on Sunday at Johnson Stadium. Abby Sowa, Isabella Gutiérrez and Sydney Schnell scored the goals for the Pirates and Maeve English earned her eighth career shutout.

Sowa opened the scoring in the 20th minute on a penalty kick earned by Schlagel. Schlagel took the ball into the box from the right side, cutting towards the goal line and drawing the foul, earning a chance from the spot for Sowa. It was a chance she made the best of as Sowa confidently placed the ball in the right side of the goal past the ODU keeper. It was the Pirate defender's first career goal on her second shot of the season.

It didn't take long for Gutiérrez to make an impact once she got into the game for the first time as a Pirate. After returning from her duties a the FIFA U-20 World Cup with the Mexican National Team, Gutiérrez seemed to be all over the pitch after entering for ECU in the 24th minute. It only took until the 27th minute when Gutiérrez fired the ball off her left foot and into the back of the net. A clever nutmeg feed from Sydney Schnell gave Gutiérrez space in the box and she placed the ball with precision first time for a 2-0 ECU lead which the Pirates would take into halftime.

In the second half, the Pirates came out firing with a tremendous Sydney Schnell goal in the 47th minute. Schnell took the ball down the right side of the pitch, past a defender and into the box. One-on-one with the keeper but with reinforcements to the center of the box, Schnell decided to take it herself, firing a rocket from a tight angle which the ODU keeper never had a chance at. The goal was Schnell's first of her career and gave her three points on the game.

Florida Atlantic 2, South Florida 1 - Box Score
TAMPA, Fla. – A goal with a minute and 39 seconds left in the game was the decider as the University of South Florida women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to the Florida Atlantic Owls, 2-1. Chiara Hahn netted the Bulls' goal in the game, while Serita Thurton tallied an assist. Sydney Martinez made six saves in net.

The Bulls struck quickly, taking the lead in the 15th minute. Hahn, taking the first shot of the game, took a shot that the Florida Atlantic keeper got hands on, but the momentum of the shot carried the ball into the net to give USF the lead.

However, for the third time this season, lightning struck and delayed the game. In the 40th minute, the game was suspended for two hours to let lightning clear the area. No team found the net in the remaining five minutes of the first half, giving the Bulls a 1-0 lead at the scheduled break.

Coming out of the half, Florida Atlantic outshot the Bulls, 4-0, striking the post and forcing Martinez to make saves to preserve the lead. Ultimately, the Owls broke through in the 68th minute as Mia Sennes pounced on a clearing attempt and sent it into the open net to tie the game at 1-1. The Owls took the lead in the 89th minute.
