Houston's Theut, Tulsa's Pecalli Take Home Weekly American Volleyball Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, September 12.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Isabel Theut, Gr., MB/OPP, Houston
Theut had an impressive week for the Cougars, helping Houston go 3-0 against two 2021 NCAA Tournament teams. She averaged 4.31 points per set, 3.92 kills per set and hit .321 on the week. Theut set career-highs in kills against both South Alabama (19) and (RV) Mississippi State (20). She hit .600 in the sweep over Kennesaw State while collecting 12 kills.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Marta Pecalli, So., L, Tulsa
Pecalli anchored the defense for Tulsa to an undefeated weekend. The libero finished with 70 total digs in three matches (6.36 digs per set), while finishing with a .925 reception percentage. She had two 20+ dig performances, collecting 24 against Abilene Christian and 28 against Oral Roberts.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Abby Hansen, Gr., MB, UCF
Hansen was a force at the net for UCF over the weekend as the middle blocker finished with 1.58 blocks per set, including nine blocks in the win over (RV) Miami.
 
McKenna Melville, Gr., OH, UCF
Melville finished with an impressive 5.46 points per set and 5.00 kills per set while hitting .314. She finished all three matches with 15 or more kills and had 26 against UIC.
 
Angeles Alderete, Fr., OH, East Carolina
Alderete helped lead East Carolina to a 3-0 weekend as she finished with 5.38 points per set, 4.92 kills per set and hit .312. She also added double-doubles in the wins over Notre Dame and Navy.
 
Bailey Houlihan, Jr., L, Memphis
Houlihan was all over the court for the Tigers as the libero finished with 6.20 digs per set. She had two matches with 20+ digs, including 25 against Oakland.
 
Kayley Cassaday, Sr., OH, Tulsa
Cassaday was an integral part of Tulsa going 3-0 on the weekend as the outside hitter finished with 5.23 points per set and 4.55 kills per set.  She had a weekend-high 20 kills at cross-town foe Oral Roberts.
