IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, September 18.
Offensive Player of the Week
McKenna Melville, Gr., OH, UCF
Melville has an impressive week for the Knights, finishing with 6.55 points per set, 5.45 kills per set and hit .336 in the three wins over No. 23 Kansas, Omaha and Lipscomb. Against the Jayhawks, she finished with 23 kills while hitting .352. She broke the UCF career kill record against Lipscomb that had stood for 25 years.
Defensive Player of the Week
Marta Pecalli, So., L, Tulsa
Pecalli anchored the defense for Tulsa last weekend as she finished with 6.64 digs per set. She had a weekend high 33 digs in the win over Sam Houston. She added 26 digs in the sweep of McNeese State. She currently ranks 5
th in the nation in digs per set on the season (5.62).
Weekly Honor Roll
Rachel Tullos, Sr., MB, Houston
Tullos had a big week at the net, finishing with 1.13 blocks per set. Against No. 1 Texas, she finished with four blocks before adding five more in win over High Point.
Amiree Hendricks-Walker, So., MB, South Florida
Hendricks-Walker had four blocks in all three matches for South Florida, finishing with 1.09 blocks per set. She also hit a combine .606 in the three matches, committing just two attacking errors.
Natalie Perdue, Jr., OH, SMU
Perdue averaged 4.35 points per set and 3.92 kills per set, helping guide the Mustangs to two wins on the weekend over Arizona State and UTRGV.
Kayley Cassaday, Sr., OH, Tulsa
Cassaday averaged 5.18 points and 4.82 kills per set while hitting a combined .248 in the three matches for Tulsa. She had 19 kills against both McNeese and Sam Houston and added 15 in the match against No. 14 Baylor.
Kayce Litzau, Jr., S, Wichita State
Litzau paced the Shockers with 10.80 assists per set. She finished with 49 assists against Dayton and 48 against Wright State.
