IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s soccer awards for the sixth week of the 2022 season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alina Khan, R-Jr., M/F, SMU
Khan scored the game-winning goal for the Mustangs in the 13^th minute during a 1-0 road conference win at Temple on Thursday.
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jazmin Ferguson, Fr., D, East Carolina
Ferguson helped lead the Pirate backline to a shutout of conference foe Houston, only allowing one shot on goal. The freshman also scored the only goal in East Carolina’s win over the Cougars.
 
GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Samantha Estrada, R-Sr., SMU
Estrada recorded four saves for the Mustangs in a 1-0 shutout at Temple on Thursday.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Megan Smith, F/M, Cincinnati
Smith scored the Bearcats’ opening goal in a 2-2 draw with defending American Athletic Conference champion Memphis on Thursday.
 
HONOR ROLL
Lauren Bastian, Jr., M, Cincinnati
Bastian scored the game-tying goal for the Bearcats in a 2-2 draw with Memphis.
 
Mya Jones, Sr., M/F, Memphis
Jones scored the Tigers’ second goal, a looping shot from near the edge of the box, in a 2-2 draw at Cincinnati
 
Daniella Chung, Fr., M/F, South Florida
Chung scored the game-winning goal for the Bulls in the 71^st minute of a 1-0 league win over Tulsa on Thursday.
 
Sydney Martinez, Sr., GK, South Florida
Martinez made three saves in a clean sheet as the Bulls defeated Tulsa, 1-0. It was Martinez’ 25^th career shutout, a new school record.
 
Sammy Nieves, So., D, SMU
Nieves assisted on the game-winning goal and helped lead the backline to a clean sheet as SMU defeated Temple, 1-0, on Thursday.
