IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, September 25.
Offensive Player of the Week
McKenna Melville, Gr., OH, UCF
Melville picks up her second consecutive Offensive Player of the Week award after finishing with 6.17 points per set, 5.50 kills per set and hitting .273 as she helped the Knights move to 10-0 on the season and start conference play 2-0. She had 15 kills against Memphis and added 18 more at SMU.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kate Georgiades, Jr., L, Houston
Georgiades anchored the defense for Houston as the libero averaged 6.00 digs per set to help the Cougars start conference play 2-0. She had a weekend-high 33 digs at Tulane and added 21 digs against Cincinnati. She also had seven aces and 12 assists.
Weekly Honor Roll
Carly Glendinning, Fr., OH, Cincinnati
Glendinning averaged 4.81 points per set and 4.50 kills per set while hitting .289 on the week. She finished with 17 kills against Tulane and 19 kills against (RV) Houston.
Isabel Theut, Gr., MB, Houston
Theut helped Houston start 2-0 in The American as the middle blocker averaged 4.44 points per set and 4.11 kills per set in the two wins.
Bailey Houlihan, Jr., L, Memphis
Houlihan had two 20+ dig performances for Memphis as the junior averaged 5.63 digs per set.
Kayley Cassaday, Jr., OH, Tulsa
Cassaday averaged 5.13 points per set and 4.88 kills per set while hitting .262 on the week. She helped Tulsa start 2-0 in The American with wins over East Carolina and Temple.
Marta Pecalli, Fr., L, Tulsa
Pecalli averaged 5.63 digs per set for Tulsa in their two wins. She finished with 28 digs against East Carolina and 17 against Temple. She added three aces and 11 assists.
