MIAMI, Fla. – No. 13 ranked FIU men's soccer pulled out its first home win of the year on Tuesday night, as the Panthers blanked the UNF Ospreys by a score of 2-0 in front of an energized crowd at FIU Soccer Stadium.

The Blue & Gold improved to 3-1 on the year, while UNF fell to 0-3.

FIU secured its second clean sheet of the season and only allowed one shot on goal from UNF in the contest. The Panthers fired off six on-target attempts and out-shot UNF by a margin of 14-11 overall.

The Panthers finally broke through shortly after halftime when Yushi Nagao scored the game-winner on a heads-up play in the 50th minute. After UNF's keeper saved a shot by Fumiya Shiraishi, Stephen Afrifa somehow maintained possession for FIU while laying on the ground in the six-yard box and miraculously got the ball to Nagao, who came crashing in and fired the pass into the back of the net.

Later in the 73rd minute, freshman Joao Domingues scored his first collegiate goal to finish a Panther counterattack and extend FIU's lead to 2-0. Afrifa assisted on the play again, penetrating into the UNF box and drawing in the defense before dishing to the right wing for a wide open Domingues. Domingues shook one defender and then fired past the keeper to the right post, as the Panthers took a two-goal advantage and held it the rest of the way.

FIU out-shot UNF by a margin of 9-5 in the second period and allowed zero shots on goal following the break.

Senior Nagao scored his first goal of the season, while Afrifa logged his first two assists of the campaign. Nagao was also credited with an assist on FIU's second goal.

TAMPA, Fla. –  The University of South Florida men's soccer team faced its second Top 25 opponent in the last three matches on Tuesday night when the No. 3/2-ranked Washington Huskies, the cream of the crop in the Pac-12, made its way across the country for a visit to Corbett Stadium. Unfortunately for the Bulls, they were not able to pull off the upset as Washington handed the Green and Gold a 3-0 loss.

The Huskies, the 2021 College Cup national championship runner-up falling to Clemson, 2-0, in the title match, struck early in the contest on Tuesday, when Lucas Meek received assists from Omar Grey and Kalani Kossa-Rienzi and beat South Florida goalkeeper, Jackson Weyman, from five yards out in the 7' for the only score of the half.

Like in the first stanza, Washington didn't waste any time getting on the board in the second 45 with an unassisted goal by Christian Soto on a low liner to the far-left post from 20 yards out in the 48'.

The Huskies added an insurance goal in the 81' as Kossa-Rienzi posted a score to go along with his assist.

Weyman ended the night with seven saves, one shy of equaling his career-high.

Marcus Victorio had a team-high three shots, including one of the Bulls' three shots on goal. Ajmeer Spengler and Jemone Barclay each had two shots.

WEST POINT, N.Y. -
Florida Atlantic University men's soccer was held off the scoreboard for a second consecutive match on Wednesday night when they fell 2-0 to Army. The defeat drops the Owls to 1-2-1 on the season.

The Owls controlled possession early in the first half but could not manage a shot on target. The Black Knights would test FAU's newcomer goalkeeper Axel Hofmann in the 29th minute but the graduate senior was up to the task with a brilliant toe save.

After stopping four shots in the first half, Hofmann was finally beaten for the opener just one minute into the second half. Army's Nick Atkinson got a head on a free kick and redirected it into the far corner leaving no chance for the Owls' German goalkeeper.

The Black Knights all but put the game on ice with another goal in 74th minute. The Owls managed two shots on target in the second half with the best chance coming when Andreas Raisanen was denied in the 64th minute.
