East Carolina's McNeal, SMU's Brow Earn Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, January 15.
 
Player of the Week
Danae McNeal, Sr., G, East Carolina
McNeal repeats as the Player of the Week after averaging 27 points and four steals against Temple and SMU. The senior guard scored a career-high 28 points in the win over the Owls before adding 26 points and six steals at SMU. McNeal scored 22 points in the second half to help the Pirates overcome an 18-point deficit and force overtime.
 
Freshman of the Week
Ella Brow, Fr., G, SMU
Brow helped guide SMU to a 2-0 week with wins over Cincinnati and East Carolina. The freshman guard averaged 10 points, six assists and 5.5 rebounds. In the overtime win against East Carolina, Brow scored 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting, dished out eight assists and came down with six rebounds.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Destiny Thomas, Sr., F, UCF
Thomas scored a career-high 24 points against Wichita State to help the Knights pick up their first conference win.
 
Kamryn Jones, Jr., F, Houston
Jones averaged a double-double for the Cougars, averaging 15 points and 11 rebounds, including a 16-point, 14 rebound performance against Tulsa.
 
Hannah Riddick, So., F, Memphis
Riddick had a double-double against Cincinnati, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 boards in the win over the Bearcats. She added 10 points and four steals against South Florida.
 
Sammie Puisis, Jr., G, South Florida
Puisis scored a career-high 28 points with six three-pointers against Tulane as she helped the Bulls extend their winning streak to six games.
 
Chantae Embry, So., F, SMU
Embry averaged 14 points and nine rebounds in two wins for the Mustangs, including a 20-point, 15 rebound game in the overtime victory over East Carolina.
