ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Emanuel Sharp came off the bench to score 18 points and No. 3 Houston bounced back from a loss that knocked it from the top spot in the rankings, beating UCF 82-71 on Wednesday night.
Jarace Walker added 17 points, Jamal Shead had 14 points and 10 assists, and Marcus Sasser also scored 14 for the Cougars (19-2, 7-1 American Athletic Conference), who lost 56-55 at home to Temple on Sunday.
Ithiel Horton scored 18 points and Taylor Hendricks had 17 for UCF (13-7, 4-4). Hendricks’ three-point play capped a 6-0 run that pulled the Knights within 67-62 with 7:02 remaining.
Shead swished a contested 3-pointer to give the Cougars a 78-67 lead with 2:15 remaining and Walker sank a shot from the baseline to make it 80-67 with 1:25 left, matching Houston’s biggest lead of the game.
UCF took an early 8-2 lead before Houston responded with an 11-0 run. The Cougars led 38-34 at halftime.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Khalif Battle scored 25 points, including seven in the overtime, and Temple beat South Florida 79-76 on Wednesday night.
Tyler Harris missed a 3-pointer as time expired for the chance to tie it for the Bulls.
Battle was 9 of 18 shooting, including 3 for 6 from distance, and went 4 for 5 from the line for the Owls (13-9, 7-2 American Athletic Conference). Damian Dunn added 15 points and seven rebounds. Nick Jourdain added 11 points.
Keyshawn Bryant finished with 21 points and six rebounds for the Bulls (9-12, 2-6). Russel Tchewa added 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals for South Florida. Selton Miguel also had 15 points, four assists and two steals.
Tchewa’s three-point play tied at 70 with 1:42 left in regulation and neither team scored again until overtime.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Jaylen Forbes scored 25 points and Jalen Cook scored six of his 20 points in overtime as Tulane defeated Wichita State 95-90 on Wednesday night.
Forbes was 8 of 12 shooting, including 4 for 7 from distance, and went 5 for 7 from the line for the Green Wave (13-7, 6-3 American Athletic Conference). Cook scored his 20 points while shooting 6 for 14 (2 for 4 from 3-point range) and 6 of 6 from the free throw line, and added nine rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Kevin Cross shot 7 for 17 (1 for 5 from 3-point range) and 3 of 3 from the free throw line to finish with 18 points, while adding seven rebounds and five assists.
Jaykwon Walton led the Shockers (10-10, 3-5) in scoring, finishing with 24 points and six assists. Jaron Pierre Jr. added 18 points and seven rebounds for Wichita State. Kenny Pohto also recorded 17 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks.
