Wichita State moved to 4-0 to open the 2023 season behind two wins on Saturday at the Texas State Tournament. The Shockers defeated Kent State, 7-0, and Villanova, 6-2.
 
Wichita State (4-0) has outscored its first four opponents, 28-5, and will look to wrap up an undefeated weekend Sunday vs. Texas State.
 
Sydney McKinney was a perfect 7-for-7 on Saturday with three doubles, five runs and an RBI. She's hitting .800 (12-for-15) through four games this season. Lauren Lucas remains equally as locked in at the plate. She was 4-for-6 with three doubles and four RBI. Lauren Mills added four hits – all singles – to go with a pair of RBI.
 
East Carolina 9, UNCW 1 – Box Score
Taylor Edwards recorded two hits and Logan Sutton tallied two RBI in three plate appearances as East Carolina sailed past UNC Wilmington 9-1 in the UNCW Tournament at Boseman Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Pirates (3-2) tallied nine hits for nine runs against the Seahawks' pitchers and continued to get off to fast starts at the plate as ECU led 8-0 after two innings.
 
Jordan Hatch (2-1) only allowed three hits through five innings in the circle for the Pirates.
 
Carrigan Ewers (0-1) allowed eight runs and six hits in 1.1 innings pitched for the Seahawks (2-3).
 
UCF 1, Ohio State 0 – Box Score
The Knights (3-1, 0-0) leaned heavily on a combination of right-handers Sarah Willis and Kaitlyn Felton and southpaw Angelina DeVoe in a 1-0 shutout win over the RV Ohio State Buckeyes (1-2, 0-0) Saturday night.
 
Behind yet another timely RBI by junior transfer Chloe Evans and a highlight-reel diving catch by redshirt-senior Jasmine Williams, the trio of Knights hurlers made an early 1-0 lead stand en route to the team's third straight win, third in four games in the Classic, and their first shutout of the young season.

UT Arlington 4, Tulsa 3 – Box Score
The University of Tulsa softball team was within three outs of taking both games on Saturday but settled with a 3-2 win over Texas Tech and 4-3 loss to UT Arlington in day two of the Maverick Invitational.
 
Celeste Wood finished the day with five hits and four RBI, both team highs. Haley Morgan scored a pair of runs while batting .500 for the day with a pair of hits in each game.
 
San Diego State 7, Memphis 1 – Box Score
Arizona State 10, Memphis 0 – Box Score
The University of Memphis softball team finished up day two of the SDSU Season Kickoff with games against Arizona State and San Diego State in the SDSU Season Kickoff. The Tigers (0-4) fell to ASU, 10-0,?and 7-1 to SDSU.?
 
The Tigers finished with four hits on the day. Megan Chism recorded the Tigers only hit of the game in the first gam of the day. Madi Berner, Sam Ibison and Taylor Smrt each recorded hits in the second game.
 
Virginia 14, Houston 7 – Box Score
Nebraska 7, Houston 0 – Box Score
The University of Houston softball team fell short in both games on Saturday, losing to Nebraska, 7-0, before dropping the continuation of its opening night game to Virginia, 14-7. The game originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m. against Virginia was cancelled.
 
Nebraska broke through in the sixth, however, adding three runs to their lead and following it up with another trio of runs in the seventh. Houston loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh but wasn't able to push any runs across for its first loss of the year.
 
The Cougars fought back from an 8-1 deficit against Virginia, cutting the lead to 8-6, but the Cavaliers rallied further in the seventh, plating five runs on a sustained rally to end the scoring at 14-7.
