UCF's Felton, Wichita State's Lucas Take Home First Softball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, February 12.
 
Player of the Week
Lauren Lucas, Jr., OF, Wichita State
Lucas started off the season on a tear, slashing .647/.684/1.176 for the 4-1 Shockers. She finished with a conference-best 12 RBI. Lucas finished with six doubles and one home run, while recording at least one hit in every game she played, including multiple hits in four out of the five games. In the season opener against Villanova, she went 4-for-4 at the plate with a career-high six RBI.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Kaitlyn Felton, So., RHP, UCF
Felton made four appearances on the mound for UCF, recording a 2-0 record during opening weekend. She tossed 11.1 innings without any earned runs allowed. Against UMass, Felton threw a complete game, allowing just one hit while striking out a career-high 13 batters. She earned the save in the 1-0 win over Ohio State to cap the weekend.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Chloe Evans, Jr., OF, UCF
Evans hit .545 on the week with five RBI. She hit a walk-off two-run home run to give the Knights the win over Boise State.
 
Addy Bullis, Jr., LHP, East Carolina
Bullis made two appearances for the Pirates, finishing with a 1-0 record and 1.56 ERA in 9.0 innings pitched.
 
Taylor Edwards, Gr., UTL, East Carolina
Edwards led the Pirates with seven hits and seven runs scored through five games, while hitting .500 on opening weekend.
 
Turiya Coleman, So., UTL, Houston
Coleman served as the leadoff hitter for Houston, batting .529 on the weekend including going 6-for-7 at the plate in wins over South Dakota State and Lamar.
 
Alison Cooper So., LHP, Wichita State
Cooper made two starts for the Shockers, tossing two complete games to earn two wins during opening weekend. She allowed just two earned runs across 14.0 innings pitched.
