Florida, Cincinnati, Temple Players Take First Weekly Honors of 2023

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending February 12.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emma LoPinto • A • So. • Florida • Manhasset, N.Y.

LoPinto figured in a game-high seven goals to lead No. 7 Florida to a 17-8 season-opening win against No. 17 Michigan. The preseason All-America selection scored four goals with three assists against the Wolverines to surpass 100 career points in the first game of her sophomore season, becoming the fastest player in program history to reach the milestone (23 games). LoPinto figured in four of the Gators' six first-half goals, including the final two goals of the second quarter that gave Florida the lead for good. 
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Ava Goeller • Jr. • Cincinnati • Bel Air, Md.

Goeller had a combined 10 points in Cincinnati's 2-0 start as the Bearcats scored 34 goals in wins against Kent State and Gardner-Webb. Goeller had two goals and an assist with two draw controls and a ground ball in a 14-7 victory against Kent State, while she followed with six goals - the most by an American Athletic Conference player in the opening weekend - in a 20-9 win against Gardner-Webb.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katie Shalllow • D • Jr. • Temple • Havertown, Pa.

Shallow led a Temple defense that averaged 9.5 goals allowed in two games as the Owls split its opening-weekend matchups against Vermont and Ohio State. She had four draw controls, a ground ball and a caused turnover in a 10-5 decision against Vermont, which was tabbed as the 2023 America East favorite. She tied the American Athletic Conference single-game record with eight ground balls to go with five caused turnovers in a 10-9 setback at Ohio State.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Sarah Reznick • G • Jr. • Florida • Long Beach, N.Y.

Reznick, The American's Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, had 12 saves and allowed eight goals to help Florida to a 17-8 win against No. 17 Michigan. She came up with seven stops in the third quarter, allowing the Gators to break open what had been a 6-4 lead by building a 13-7 cushion after 45 minutes. Reznick moved into second place on Florida's career saves chart (412).
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Camryn Callaghan • A • Fr. • Cincinnati • Upper Arlington, Ohio

Callaghan led all American Athletic Conference players with a combined 13 points through the first week of the 2023 season. She made her collegiate debut by scoring three goals with three assists in a 14-7 win against Kent State and added five gols with two assists in a 20-9 victory against Gardner-Webb.

Had four goals with five assists for nine points in two games. Had a hat trick with three assists in a 15-5 win against Radford.
 
Isabella Peterson • A • Jr. • James Madison • Sparks, Md.
Scored five goals with an assist and six draw controls in a 14-9 loss at No. 1 North Carolina. Became the first JMU player in program history with a hat trick in the first quarter.
 
Paige Gunning • G • Sr. • Vanderbilt • Severna Park, Md.
Made 24 saves and registered a .533 save percentage in two games against top-25 opponents. Had 12 saves each against No. 25 Colorado and No. 9 Denver.
 
Nancy Halleron • A • So. • Vanderbilt • Timonium, Md.
Scored a game-high five goals in an 11-10 overtime win against No. 25 Colorado
