IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, February 12.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Shaun Maswanganyi, Jr., Houston
Maswanganyi put up the top times in The American in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the Tyson Invitational. He ran a 6.64 60-meter dash and a 21.07 200-meter dash. His 60-meter dash time is the 27
th fastest in NCAA Division I as of February 14.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Romaine Beckford, Sr., South Florida
Beckford earns his second Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honor this season after setting a new program record in high jump with a height of 2.22 meters. His height is the top mark in The American this season and the 5
th best in NCAA Division I as of February 14.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Rayniah Jones, Jr., UCF
Jones claims her second Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after running the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.08. It is the top mark in The American and 12
th in NCAA as of February 14. She also ran the 4
th best time in The American in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.01.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Taylor Beard, Sr., Cincinnati
Beard set a new program and American Athletic Conference record in high jump with a mark of 1.88 meters. She broke the record held by former Bearcat Loretta Blaut (1.87m; 2019). Her height is the top mark in The American and the 3
rd best mark in NCAA Division I as of February 14.
