ORLANDO - The Knights dominated start to finish on Sunday where newcomer Dom Stagliano didn't allow a run in his first appearance as a Knight. Tom Josten highlighted UCF's offense who went 2-2 with a double and a home run. The Black and Gold came out victorious at John Euliano Park by a score of 11-1.
Stagliano made his first appearance after transferring from Stetson following his freshman year. The highly touted transfer was named to the Collegiate Baseball All-American team in 2022 and started out his 2023 season in a strong outing. On top of the strong performance from Stagliano, he had plenty of help from the offense giving him a two run cushion going into the second inning.
The dominant performance by the Black and Gold continued with two or more runs scored in the next 3 innings while not allowing a single run. The Knights led 9-0 heading to the top of the fifth innings thanks to home runs in the bottom of the fourth inning by Josten and Lex Boedicker.
Following another scoreless inning, Stagliano's day was over after allowing just three hits to go along with seven strikeouts and no earned runs in five innings. After adding another run in the bottom of the fifth due to Keano Suarez reaching on an error, the Knights extended their lead to double digits. It wasn't until the top of the sixth where Siena (0-3) scored their first run of the day.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Matt Cedarburg tripled to center field and two batters later, Suarez doubled down the third base line and Cedarburg scored the Knights 11th run of the game.

After Cal evened the contest at six-all in the top of the eighth, Houston applied the pressure in the home half. Sophomore Malachi Lott drew a leadoff four-pitch walk and stole second. Sophomore Brandon Burckel moved Lott to third on a bunt single and stole second to put two in scoring position with no outs.

Brock Rodden followed by coaxing a bases-loaded walk, and Long Beach State was then called for a balk attempting a hidden ball trick that ballooned the lead to 8-3. A bloop double from Garrett Pennington kept the merry-go-round moving, and Payton Tolle capped the inning with a two-run single for an 11-3 lead.
Wichita State starter Grant Adler (1-0) made it stand up with six solid innings in his WSU debut, allowing five runs while striking out five and walking two.
