IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending February 19.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Grace Wehland • Sr. • Cincinnati • Bel Air, Md.
Wehland had hat tricks in a pair of games as part of a Bearcat attack that averaged 18.5 goals last week. She scored four goals with two assists in a 24-9 win against Robert Morris and had three goals and three assists in a 19-13 setback to Marquette. Wehland, who connected on seven of her nine shots, also added five ground balls. She has 10 goals and seven assists through four games in 2023.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Belle Mastropietro • Sr. • Temple • Springfield, Pa.
Mastropietro had a game- and career-high eight points, with six goals and two assists, to lead Temple to a 15-6 win against George Washington in the Owls' only game of the week. She had a hat trick in the first quarter as Temple raced to an early 6-3 lead. Mastropietro added two ground balls and a game-high six draw controls against the Colonials and leads the Owls with 11 goals, 15 points and 19 draw controls this season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Matey • Sr. • James Madison • Phoenixville, Pa.
Matey led a close defense that limited Virginia Tech and UConn to a combined 6.5 goals in a 2-0 week for the Dukes. She had a combined six ground balls, five caused turnovers and nine draw controls in the two games, helping to limit the Hokies to one second-half goal and holding the Huskies to 19 total shots. Matey also registered her 200th career draw control in the win against Virginia Tech, becoming the second player in program history to reach that milestone.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Brynn Knight • So. • East Carolina • Manchester, Md.
Knight keyed East Carolina's 14-2 win against George Mason from the goal crease as she stopped 11 of the Patriots' 13 shots on goal (.846), allowing only two goals. After George Mason scored with 13:53 left in the second quarter to cut East Carolina's lead to 4-2, Knight did not allow a goal the rest of the way before coming out of the game with 8:25 left in the fourth quarter. Knight ranks second in The American in both save percentage (.512) and goals-against average (7.78) in 2023.

Camryn Callaghan • A • Fr. • Cincinnati • Upper Arlington, Ohio
Callaghan led all American Athletic Conference players with 13 goals in two games last week, including an eight-goal performance against Marquette that matched the Bearcats' single-game record. She scored five goals with an assist in a 24-9 win against Robert Morris and had nine points (8g, 1a) in a 19-13 loss to Marquette. Callaghan leads The American with 21 goals and 28 points in 2023.
