TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — DeAndre Williams scored 26 points as Memphis beat South Florida 99-81 on Wednesday night.
Williams added five rebounds for the Tigers (18-6, 8-3 American Athletic Conference). Kendric Davis added 23 points while going 9 of 16 (3 for 3 from distance), and he also had five rebounds and eight assists. Keonte Kennedy was 7-of-13 shooting, including 3 for 5 from distance, and went 2 for 4 from the line to finish with 19 points.
The Bulls (10-14, 3-8) were led in scoring by Tyler Harris, who finished with 28 points. South Florida also got 18 points from Selton Miguel. Russel Tchewa also had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Memphis took the lead with 18:45 remaining in the first half and did not relinquish it. Davis led his team in scoring with 14 points in the first half to help put them up 48-35 at the break. Memphis outscored South Florida by five points in the second half, and Williams scored a team-high 16 points in the second half to help his team secure the victory.

HOUSTON (AP) — Marcus Sasser scored 25 points and had five 3-pointers, Emanuel Sharp added 13 points and No. 2 Houston defeated Tulsa 80-42 on Wednesday night for their fifth straight win.
Sasser scored 19 points on 8 of 13 shooting in the first half as the Cougars (23-2, 11-1 American Athletic Conference) built a 46-18 halftime lead. The senior guard had the first 12 points in a 24-2 run that gave Houston a 31-12 lead with six minutes remaining in the first half.
Houston shot 46%, including 13 of 35 on 3-pointers. The Cougars outrebounded Tulsa 53-27 and owned a 31-4 advantage in bench points.
Houston also beat Tulsa 89-50 on Dec. 28. After playing three games in six days, Houston now gets eight days off – their longest stretch of the season without a game.
Tim Dalger scored 13 points, and Sam Griffin added 11 points for Tulsa (5-18, 1-11).
The Golden Hurricane has lost five straight and fell to 0-9 on the road this season. Tulsa struggled from the field shooting 28% and making 4 of 29 on 3-pointers.

DALLAS (AP) — Zhuric Phelps led SMU with 19 points and sealed the victory with a free throw with three seconds left as the Mustangs defeated Temple 72-71 on Wednesday night.
Phelps also contributed five assists and four steals for the Mustangs (9-16, 4-8 American Athletic Conference). Efe Odigie scored 10 points and added 11 rebounds. Samuell Williamson recorded 10 points and shot 4 of 8 from the field and 2 for 3 from the line.
Phelps made 1 of 2 from the free-throw line to give SMU a two-point lead with 25 seconds left and Hysier Miller scored inside 14 seconds later to make it 71-all but Phelps drew a foul on Khalif Battle and missed the first foul shot but made the second.
Battle’s potential winning heave at the buzzer from beyond half court caromed harmlessly off the backboard.
Battle led the Owls (14-11, 8-4) in scoring, finishing with 27 points. Zach Hicks added 11 points, 11 rebounds and two steals for Temple. In addition, Damian Dunn finished with 11 points and six assists.
Keon Ambrose-Hylton put up seven points in the first half for SMU, who led 32-30 at halftime. Phelps scored a team-high 14 points for SMU in the second half, including the winning free throw.
UCF 72, Wichita State 67 -

Hendricks had five rebounds for the Knights (14-9, 5-6 American Athletic Conference). Ithiel Horton added 14 points while going 5 of 12 (4 for 6 from distance), and he also had five assists. Darius Johnson shot 4 for 12, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc to finish with 12 points. The Knights broke a five-game slide.
Craig Porter Jr. led the Shockers (12-12, 5-7) in scoring, finishing with 19 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Jaron Pierre Jr. added 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals for Wichita State. James Rojas also had 12 points.
