IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly golf honors for the week ending Tuesday, March 14.
Men’s Golf Player of the Week
Jake Peacock, So. - South Florida
Peacock helped lead the Bulls to a first-place team finish at the Ross Collegiate Classic in Southern Pines, North Carolina. In the par-72, 6,713-yard course, Peacock shot -9 for a total of 207. Peacock held a 4.42 shot average on par-5’s for a total of -7. He shot a tournament-best 66 (-6) on the final day of competition, moving up five spots on the leaderboard.
Women’s Golf Player of the Week
Michelle Zhang, Fr. - SMU
Zhang took home the first-place medal at the Briar’s Creek Invitational in Johns Isle, South Carolina. She shot 210 (-6) on the par-72, 6,152-yard course, shooting two-under in all three days of the tournament, defeating three Golfstat Top 100 ranked opponents along the way. Zhang held a 4.58 stroke average on par-5’s for a -5 total. She led the way to an SMU team victory, helping the Mustangs beat five other ranked teams in the process.
