East Carolina's Grosz, Houston's Nickens Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the sixth week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cameron Nickens, So., OF, Houston
Nickens powered the Cougars to a 4-1 week hitting .375 (9-24) with nine runs scored, two doubles, five home runs and nine runs driven in. The sophomore had at least one home run in each of Houston’s victories last week. He also had hits in every game and multiple hits in three contests.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Josh Grosz, Jr., East Carolina
Gross threw a complete-game shutout in the Pirates’ rain-shortened 8-inning 5-0 win over George Mason on Sunday. The junior scattered five hits and one walk while striking out five.
 
HONOR ROLL
Ruddy Gomez, R-Sr., P, UCF
Gomez struck out seven Terps in eight innings of work in the Knights’ 4-2 win over Maryland on Friday.
 
Kameron Guidry, R-Jr., SS, Cincinnati
Guidry helped lead the Bearcats to a 4-1 week by hitting .316 (6-19) with seven runs scored, a double and a home run. He drove in four of his 10 RBI last week on a grand slam against Xavier.
 
Ryan McCrystal, So., C, East Carolina
McCrystal hit .417 (5-12) with one run scored, two doubles, one home run and five runs driven in as the Pirates went 3-1 last week.
 
Chuck Ingram, Jr., OF, Wichita State
Ingram stayed hot, batting .476 (10-21) with five runs, three doubles, a triple and two home runs in five games.
 
Clark Candiotti, Jr. P, Wichita State
Candiotti earned the win in a 12-2 victory over UMass by striking out nine batters while only allowing one run in six innings of work.
