IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the final week of the regular season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jamal Shead, Jr., G, Houston
Shead averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals in a pair of victories for No. 1 Houston. The junior scored a career-high 25 points against Wichita State on Thursday night before sinking the buzzer-beating game-winning shot at Memphis on Sunday.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Taylor Hendricks, F, UCF
Hendricks averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 60.9 percent from the field (14-23) in two games for the Knights. Hendricks won The American’s Freshman of the Week honor a record nine times this season.
HONOR ROLL
David DeJulius, Gr., G, Cincinnati
DeJulius scored 30 points and provided six assists in a win over SMU on Sunday.
Kendric Davis, Sr., G, Memphis
Davis averaged 24.5 points in two games for the Tigers and dropped 23 points and 10 assists at SMU on Thursday night.
Damian Dunn, R-So., G, Temple
Dunn averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two games for the Owls.
Jalen Cook, So., G, Tulane
In three games in five days, Cook averaged 18.3 points and 5.3 assists per game.
Craig Porter Jr, Sr., G, Wichita State
Porter averaged 20.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in two Shocker contests last week.
