Tulsa's Skaggs, Wichita State's Howell Earn Softball Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, March 5.
 
Player of the Week
Claira Skaggs, So., 1B, Tulsa
Skaggs had an impressive week for the Golden Hurricane, recording hits in every game and scoring a run in four out of the five games played. She slashed .556/.556/1.167 with three home runs and eight RBI. Against Maine, she recorded five RBI, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Lauren Howell, Jr., RHP, Wichita State
Howell made two appearances in the circle for the Shockers, picking up two wins against Bradley and Western Illinois. She tossed a complete game against Bradley, allowing no runs. On the week, she sported a 0.00 ERA in 11.0 innings pitched, while striking out six batters against no walks.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
 
Sarah Willis, Jr., RHP, UCF
Willis made two appearances for the Knights, allowing no earned runs in 8.0 innings pitched. She struck out 12 batters, including nine in the win against Fresno State.
 
Payton Dixon, R-Fr., LHP, South Florida
Dixon finished the week with a 2-0 record for the Bulls, earning a 1.24 ERA in 11.1 innings pitched. She struck out 11 batters in two games.
 
Marissa Trivelpiece, Jr., UTL, South Florida
Trivelpiece hit .429 on the week including a home run against NIU. She added two RBI against Kansas.
 
Maura Moore, So., RHP, Tulsa
Moore opened the weekend with the 23rd no-hitter in Tulsa history as the Golden Hurricane defeated Tarleton State 8-0.
 
Lainee Brown, R-So., C, Wichita State
Brown batter .500 on the week, finishing with six hits, including one home run. She scored four runs to help the Shockers go 4-0 on the week.
