East Carolina's Makarewicz, Memphis' Fowler Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the eighth week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alec Makarewicz, Jr., 3B, East Carolina
Makarewicz aided the Pirates to a 4-0 week, including a sweep of UCF this weekend by hitting .563 (9-16) with six runs scored and eight runs batted in. He recorded at least one hit and one RBI in all four games and in Thursday’s doubleheader, the junior posted seven hits and six RBI.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Dalton Fowler, Sr., Memphis
Fowler earned the win in Friday’s 6-2 win over Cincinnati by throwing seven scoreless innings. He scattered two hits and a walk and struck out 13 Bearcats.
 
HONOR ROLL
Griffin Hugus, Fr., P, Cincinnati
Hugus struck out six batters in five innings of work with one run allowed, earning the win in Thursday’s 6-2 victory at Memphis.
 
Carter Spivey, Sr., P, East Carolina
Spivey earned the win in the Pirates’ 11-5 victory in Game 2 of a doubleheader Thursday against UCF, striking out six batters in six innings with two runs allowed.
 
Anthony Tulimero, Jr., C, Houston
Tulimero hit .556 (10-18) with seven runs scored, two home runs and eight RBI. He hit both home runs and drove in four against Rice on Tuesday.
 
Anthony Hansen, Sr., 1B/DH, Memphis
Hansen hit .375 (6-16) with two home runs and seven RBI in four games for the Tigers.
 
Clark Candiotti, Jr., P, Wichita State
Candiotti did not allow a run in 6.2 innings and struck out 11 in the Shockers’ 6-1 win over Houston on Friday.
