Cincinnati, South Florida, Temple, Wichita State Athletes Earn Track & Field Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, April 9.
 
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Shevioe Reid, Jr., South Florida
Shevoie Reid put forth the top time of all American competitors last week in the 200-meter dash. The junior from Jamaica ran the sprint in 20.45 seconds at the South Florida Invitational, which would be the 10th fastest time in the NCAA. He was also a member of the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Fred Moudani, Sr., Cincinnati
Moudani broke the Cincinnati outdoor shot-put record with a throw of 19.31 meters (63’4.25”) at the Tennessee Invite. Moudani now holds the indoor and outdoor shot-put records at Cincinnati. The throw was the 12th best in the NCAA and the best mark in The American this outdoor season.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Laura Nicholson, Jr., Temple
Nicholson ran a personal best in the 1,500-meter run at the Temple Invite, completing the race with a time of 4:15.89, breaking her previous mark by five seconds. The time from the junior is also the 17th fastest time in the NCAA and second fastest in The American this season.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Destiny Masters, So., Wichita State
Masters put forth two Top 25 marks in the NCAA at the Stanislaus State Multi on April 6 in the heptathlon. She scored the 23rd most points in the NCAA with 5,258 points, while clearing a mark of 1.79 meters (5’10.5”) in high jump, the 17th best mark in the NCAA. Her high jump of 1.79 meters is also the top mark in The American this season.
