Florida, ECU, JMU, Cincinnati Players Take Weekly Women's Lacrosse Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of its weekly women’s lacrosse honors for the week-ending April 2.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ATTACK PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emma LoPinto • So. • Florida • Manhasset, N.Y.
LoPinto scored four goals and added an assist to key No. 8 Florida's 17-13 win against No. 23 Penn. She scored a pair of fourth-quarter goals to break an 11-11 tie and give the Gators a two-goal lead and help Florida score its third win against a top-25 opponent this season. LoPinto ranks third in The American in scoring at 4.1 points per game on 30 goals and 15 assists in 2023.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Camryn Pennypacker • Gr. • East Carolina • Mullica Hill, N.J.
Pennypacker scored a game-high four goals and added a ground ball to lead East Carolina to a 15-10 win against Vanderbilt, giving the Pirates their first 2-0 start in American Athletic Conference play and matching the program record with their ninth win of the season. Pennypacker scored the first goal of the game and added three second-half scores to help the Pirates pull away.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Rachel Matey • Sr. • James Madison • Phoenixville, Pa.
Matey led No. 5 James Madison's close defense which limited Old Dominion to two goals and 15 shots in a 16-2 victory, improving the Dukes to 3-0 in The American. Matey had three draw controls and a caused turnover, while she led a JMU ride that held the Monarchs to 9-of-15 efficiency on clears. The Dukes held ODU scoreless for the first 50 minutes of the game.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Lapp • Jr. • Cincinnati • Missouri City, Texas
Lapp was instrumental in Cincinnati's 12-9 win against Temple as she registered 11 saves, including four in the fourth quarter. Lapp held the Owls without a second-half goal until the 5:42 mark of the third quarter, allowing the Bearcats to score the first three goals of the quarter and build a 10-6 lead. She helped to hold the Owls to 3-for-10 shooting in free positions as Cincinnati improved to 2-1 in The American.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Ava Tighe • A • Fr. • Florida • Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.
Tighe scored two key fourth-quarter goals to help No. 8 Florida take a 17-13 win against No. 23 Penn. She scored early in the fourth period to break a 10-10 tie, while she added an insurance goal with 4:31 remaining to give the Gators a 15-12 lead on their way to their third win against a top-25 opponent this season.

Had a school-record seven assists - the most by an American Athletic Conference player in a game this season - in a 17-13 win against No. 23 Penn.
 
Sophia LoCicero • A • Gr. • East Carolina • Lynbrook, N.Y.
Scored four goals on five shots in a 15-10 win against Vanderbilt.
 
Isabella Peterson • A • Jr. • James Madison • Sparks, Md.
Scored three goals with two assists and two draw controls in a 16-2 win against Old Dominion.
