South Florida Sweeps Weekly Baseball Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly baseball honors for the seventh week of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Daniel Cantu, R-Jr., OF/1B, South Florida
Cantu helped lead the Bulls to their first series win at in-state rival UCF by hitting .538 (7-13) for the week. Six of his seven hits were extra-base knocks, including five doubles and a home run. He drove in six runs for the week.
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Ethan Brown, R-Sr., South Florida
Brown earned the win in Friday night’s 2-0 shutout at UCF, throwing 7.1 scoreless innings. The redshirt senior scattered five hits and one walk while striking out 12 Knights.
 
HONOR ROLL
Alex Lopez, Jr., UTL, Houston
Lopez hit .375 (6-16) with three runs, a double, a triple, a home run and four RBI. He had the go-ahead 3-run home run in the seventh inning of a series clincher against East Carolina.
 
Justin Murray, Jr., P, Houston
Murray saw action in three contests last week, throwing 6.2 scoreless innings. He earned the win against East Carolina on Friday night and picked up the save in Sunday’s victory.
 
Dalton Fowler, Sr., P, Memphis
Fowler did not allow a run in five innings against Tulane on Saturday and struck out 12 Green Wave batters.
 
Dylan Carmouche, Jr., P, Tulane
Carmouche earned the win on Friday night against Memphis, with only two unearned runs coming across the plate in seven innings of action.
 
Clark Candiotti, Jr., P, Wichita State
Candiotti picked up the win on Friday at Cincinnati, allowing one run in six innings with seven strikeouts as the Shockers went on to win, 2-1.
