IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly golf honors for the week ending Tuesday, April 4.
Men’s Golf Player of the Week
Ryan Ford, Fr. - Cincinnati
Ford finished in 3
rd place in a stacked field at the Mossy Oak Collegiate nine ranked opponents. The freshman shot 12-under par on the 7,212-yard, par-72 course, finishing ahead of 15 Golfstat Top 100 ranked opponents in the process. He tied a Cincinnati program record with an 8-under 64 in the opening round of the tournament. Ford finished with a tournament-best two eagles and a 4.25 stroke average on par-5’s (-9).
Women’s Golf Player of the Week
Lilly Thomas, Sr. - Tulsa
Thomas took home first place honors at The Bruzzy in Ardmore, Oklahoma, shooting 208 (-2) in the tournament. She was the lone golfer to shoot under par and finished ahead of four Golfstat Top 100 ranked opponents. She carded rounds of 72-68-68 for her first-place finish and helped guide Tulsa to a second-place team finish in a field that featured six ranked teams. Thomas led the field with 12 birdies and one eagle and held a 4.67 stroke average on par-5’s (-2).
