IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference will host its 2024 Basketball Media Days
Sunday and Monday, October 13-14 at the Westin Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas.
For the first time, The American is inviting fans to participate in the annual event to start the college basketball season.
Fifty-two student-athletes are scheduled to attend this year’s event. Media sessions begin at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday and will continue Monday morning with a show on ESPN+ hosted by Brooke Kirchhofer, Mike O’Donnell and Brooke Weisbrod and will feature all student-athletes and coaches from all 26 American teams. Live coverage of the 2024 Media Days will start at 9:15 a.m. ET/8:15 a.m. CT on Monday.
Fans will be able to experience the 2024 Media Days with unprecedented access to their favorite teams, coaches and student-athletes. Teams in attendance on Sunday include the men’s and women’s squads from UAB, Charlotte, Memphis, South Florida, Tulane and Tulsa. Monday’s sessions will feature the men’s and women’s teams of East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, Rice, Temple, UTSA and Wichita State.

Several 2023-24 award winners and all-conference members will be in attendance at the 2024 Media Days. On the women’s side, North Texas’ Tommisha Lampkin was a first-team all-conference member, while South Florida’s Romi Levy (Newcomer of the Year), Tulsa’s Delanie Crawford (Most Improved Award) and Temple’s Tiarra East were recognized on the second team. Rice’s Malia Fisher was on the third team.
UAB’s Yaxel Lendeborg, the 2024 American Men’s Basketball Championship Most Outstanding Player and the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, will be in attendance, as will Memphis’ PJ Haggerty, who was the conference’s Freshman of the Year for Tulsa in 2023-24. East Carolina’s RJ Felton, who was on the all-conference third team, is also scheduled to be in attendance.
In advance of the Media Days, The American will announce the 2024 coaches’ preseason polls and honors on Friday, October 11.
