Fourteen Players from The American Selected in 2024 MLB Draft

ARLINGTON, Texas – Fourteen student-athletes from the American Athletic Conference were selected in the 2024 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft over the course of three days July 14-16 in Arlington, Texas.
 
Trey Yesavage of East Carolina was the first player from The American selected, going No. 20 overall in the first round to the Toronto Blue Jays. Yesavage became the seventh player from The American to be drafted in the First Round, joining Gavin Williams (No. 23 pick from East Carolina in 2021), Kody Hoese (No. 25 from Tulane in 2019), Alec Bohm (No. 3 from Wichita State in 2018), Shane McClanahan (No. 31 from South Florida in 2018), Anthony Kay (No. 31 from UConn in 2016) and Ian Happ (No. 9 from Cincinnati in 2015). Yesavage was a consensus First-Team All-American, as well as the 2024 American Pitcher of the Year.
 
East Carolina had the most selections from The American with six picks, including 2024 American Player of the Year Carter Cunningham going in the 10th round to Toronto. Tulane had three picks, while Charlotte had two selections. Rice and Wichita State each had one draft pick.
