IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the weekly women’s soccer honors for the third week of the season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Anna Hauer, So., F, Memphis
Hauer scored a brace and added an assist in No. 8 Memphis’ 4-2 win over Iowa State on Sunday night, September 1. The sophomore opened the scoring in the sixth minute, assisted on the game-winning goal in the 24
th minute and scored an insurance goal 50 seconds after the Cyclones cut the lead to 3-2.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kylie Alvarez, Gr., D, East Carolina
Alvarez led the Pirate defense to a pair of clean sheets while only allowing four shots on goal total, including one against Coastal Carolina in a scoreless draw on Thursday, August 29 and three in a 3-0 win over UNCW on Sunday. The graduate student also scored a goal against the Seahawks.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Faith Hutchins, Gr., Rice
Hutchins made a total of 11 saves in two Owl victories. The graduate student made eight saves in a 2-1 win over Lamar on Thursday before saving three shots in a 4-0 shutout against Texas Southern on Sunday.
Freshman of the Week
Allie Love, F, Rice
Love had contributions on both game-winning goals for the Owls last week. She assisted on the game-winning goal against Lamar on Thursday before scoring the first goal of the game against Texas Southern.
Honorable Mention
Claire Niedermeier, Fr., F, North Texas
Niedermeier scored a brace for the Mean Green in a 5-0 win over Southern. The goals came just two minutes apart.
Rachel Roebuck, Sr., F, North Texas
Roebuck scored a goal and provided an assist in the Mean Green’s 2-2 draw against Texas A&M-Commerce. The senior also provided an assist in a 5-0 win over Southern.
Jasmine Kessler, So., GK, UTSA
Kessler recorded nine saves in two matches for the Roadrunners. The sophomore saved four shots against Houston on Thursday before making five saves in a 1-0 shutout of Colorado State on Sunday.
Leah Diaz, Jr., F, Tulsa
Diaz recorded seven points last week with a goal in a 1-1 draw with Oral Roberts before adding a goal and three assists in the Golden Hurricane’s 9-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Blaine Schutte, Fr., F, Tulsa
Shutte scored a hat trick in the Golden Hurricane’s 9-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday.
