IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, September 22.
Offensive Player of the Week
Cindy Tchouangwa, So., OH, Rice
Tchouangwa finished the week with 3.94 points per set, while hitting at a .262 clip. She finished with 15 kills against UT Arlington, before adding 13 more against No. 24 TCU.
Defensive Player of the Week
Sabrina Skyers, Jr., MB, Tulane
Skyers was a force at the net, finishing the weekend with 1.54 blocks per set. She totaled 20 blocks over three matches against UC Riverside, Georgia State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Setter of the Week
Victoria Hensley, Jr., Florida Atlantic
Hensely led the Owls to a 3-0 weekend, pacing Florida Atlantic with 10.69 assists per set. She added 29 digs to averaged 2.23 digs per set on the defensive side.
Freshman of the Week
Natalie Depaula, RS, Florida Atlantic
Depaula helped lead the Owls to a trio of wins, averaging 2.58 kills per set and 1.08 blocks per set. She hit at a .275 clip, including a high of .450 in the 3-1 win over Stetson.
Honorable Mention
Madison Dyer, Jr., MB, Florida Atlantic
Dyler averaged 3.12 points per set on offense, while adding 1.08 blocks per set on defense.
Payton Van Veen, Jr., OPP, North Texas
Van Veen scored 3.67 points per set and added 1.00 blocks per set on defense in matches against Buffalo and No. 16 Florida.
Christiana Greene, Fr., OH, Temple
Green scored 2.92 points per set while hitting .344 in a pair of matches for the Owls.
Alyssa Finister, Jr., MB, Temple
Finister averaged 1.33 blocks per set for the Owls over a pair of matches.
Lexi Yoza, So., S, Temple
Yoza paced the Owls with 6.33 assists per set, while adding 1.83 digs per set on defense.
