JMU, Marshall, Rice, Tulane Earn Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – The American Conference has announced the weekly women’s swimming and diving honors.
 
Swimming Athlete of the Week
Ella Dyson, Senior, Rice
Dyson earned two individual wins at the Owl-A-Pooluza against Houston and TCU October 10-11 in Houston. She placed first in the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 16:46.36 and first in the 1,000 freestyle in 10:01.10. Those times are both first in the American this season and rank fourth and 42nd in Division I, respectively. The senior also placed second in the 500 freestyle in 4:55.37, a time that is also tops in conference this season. On Oct. 18, Dyson then competed in the MPSF Open Water Championships and won the 5K event in a time of 1:01:21.
 
Freshman Swimming Athlete of the Week
Maddie Emment, Marshall
In a dual meet against West Virginia on October 10, Emment earned individual wins in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.49) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:04.24), and placed second in the 500 free in 4:52.46. All three times rank second in the American this season, with her 1,000 time ranking 46th in Division I.
 
Diving Athlete of the Week
Natalie Jones, Redshirt Junior, JMU
In wins over La Salle and Drexel on October 18 in Philadelphia, Jones won the 3-meter springboard event with a total score of 266.65 points. The redshirt junior also placed second in the 1-meter event with an NCAA Zone Diving-qualifying score of 279.30.
 
Freshman Diving Athlete of the Week
Libby Brewer, Tulane
Brewer picked up two top-3 places against Liberty October 10-11 in New Orleans. The freshman won the 1-meter springboard event with 256.95 points and placed third on the 3-meter boards with 236.78 total points.
