UAB, Rice, Tulsa Earn Weekly Volleyball Honors

IRVING, Texas The American Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 9.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Jorda Crook, Jr., OPP, UAB
Crook led the Blazers to a pair of wins, averaging 5.00 kills per set, while hitting .329 on the week.  She also added 1.00 blocks per set to increase her points per set to a conference-high 5.64 points per set on the week.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Jill Hanson, Fr., MB, Tulsa
Hanson was a force at the net, averaging 2.17 blocks per set in a pair of sweeps over Charlotte and East Carolina. She had seven blocks against Charlotte before adding six more in the win over East Carolina.
 
Setter of the Week
Kaia Mateo, Jr., S, Rice
Mateo helped the Owls capture the American regular season title with a pair of sweeps, averaging 11.67 assist per set in wins over North Texas and Florida Atlantic.
 
Freshman of the Week
Jill Hanson, Fr., MB, Tulsa
Hanson led the American with 2.17 blocks per set and 13 total blocks in just six sets.  She averaged 4.08 points per set, adding two aces and 15 kills
 
Honorable Mention
Kristen Birmingham, Sr., OH, Charlotte
Birmingham averaged 4.57 kills per set and 3.57 digs per set over two matches for the 49ers.
 
Maddie Stuesser, So., S, Charlotte
Stuesser averaged 10.71 assists per set in a pair of matches, while adding 2.29 digs per set.
 
Gaby Mansfield, Sr., L, Rice
Mansfield averaged 5.33 digs per set, anchoring the Owl defense as they swept North Texas and Florida Atlantic.
 
Caroline Tredwell, So., MB UTSA
Tredwell averaged 3.44 kills per set, including a career-high 21 kills in the 3-2 win over Temple.
 
Brayden Hipp, Sr., S, Tulsa
Hipp averaged 11.00 assists per set in a pair of sweeps over Charlotte and East Carolina.
