TAMPA, Fla. – Fifth-seeded Wichita State swept No. 4 seed North Texas 25-20, 25-20, 25-18 on Friday afternoon at The Corral, advancing to the semifinals of the 2025 American Volleyball Championship.
Sydney Dunning powered the Shockers (21-9) with a match-high 20 kills on .410 hitting, while setter Jordan Heatherly directed the offense with 37 assists and added 16 digs. Wichita State hit .438 as a team and out-dug North Texas 41-27.
Gabi Maas anchored the back row with 16 digs and two aces, while Brooklyn Leggett added 14 kills on .545 hitting.
North Texas (19-10) was led by Jahniya Jackson’s 10 kills. The Mean Green were paced by Alexa Washington (14 assists) and Sidney Soria (15 assists.)
Wichita State advances to face No. 1 seed Rice on Saturday, November 22 at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
