IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, February 16.
Player of the Week
Alex Wilkes, So., INF, South Florida
Wilkes the Bulls to a 7-0 week slashing .500/.700/.560 with 11 RBI and six runs scored. Her seven RBI against FGCU tied the program-record, set by Stephanie Medina in 2011.
Pitcher of the Week
Kendall Frost, Fr., East Carolina
Frost earned three wins in five appearances in the circle, finishing with a 0.86 ERA across 16.2 innings. In two complete games against No. 22 Boston, she allowed just one run, while earning two wins.
Honorable Mention
Morgan Johnson, Gr., INF, East Carolina
Johnson finished the week with eight RBI and four runs scored, slashing .375/.625/.444 across 16 at-bats.
Autumn Courtney, Jr., P, Florida Atlantic
Courtney did not allow an earned run across 10.2 inning pitched for the Owls, striking out 16 batters.
Bella Foran, Fr., OF, Florida Atlantic
Foran slashed .615/.615/.615 across 13-at bats for the Owls. She extended her hitting streak to seven games.
Tatum Sparks, Jr., UTL, North Texas
Sparks led the Mean Green to four wins on the week, driving in six runs while scoring six more. She had at least one hit in every game.
Payton Dixon, Jr., P, South Florida
Dixon tossed two complete-game shutouts, while finishing the week with three wins and a save.
