No. 5 Miami Takes Top-25 Matchup Against No. 18 South Florida

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Carson Beck threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, and No. 5 Miami rolled past No. 18 South Florida 49–12 on Saturday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

Beck hit Jalen Moore for scores of 8 and 39 yards in the first quarter and added a 2-yard keeper late in the second as the Hurricanes (3–0) built a 28–6 halftime lead. Mark Fletcher Jr. broke loose for touchdown runs of 38 and 13 yards and finished with 120 yards on 16 carries. Beck went 23 of 28 for 340 yards; his third TD pass was a 1-yard toss to Chris Brown early in the fourth.

Miami outgained USF 576–332, piling up 371 yards through the air and 205 on the ground, and converted 7 of 11 third downs while going 5-for-5 in the red zone. Tony Johnson had catches of 51 and 13 yards among his 64 receiving yards, and Kobe Marion added six receptions for 81.

South Florida (2–1) got two first-half field goals from Nico Gramatica (45, 28) and a 12-yard touchdown pass from Byrum Brown to C. Neptune with 12:48 left, but the Bulls were held to 40 rushing yards on 27 attempts. Brown finished 20 of 36 for 274 yards with one touchdown and one interception; C. Nimrod led USF with 128 receiving yards.

Garyn Pringle Jr. capped the scoring with a 5-yard TD run in the final two minutes for Miami. The Hurricanes controlled possession for 36:01 and averaged 8.5 yards per snap.
